HARRY MANX with Kevin Breit

Harry Manx is no stranger to Salt Spring Island. A long-time resident, he can often be seen driving his pick-up truck into town with his dog sitting quietly in the back. What is not obvious though is that he tours internationally and has earned six Juno Nominations, seven Maple Blues Awards, Folk Artist of the Year , Blues Artist of the Year (seven times) and Album of the Year here in Canada. A master of the slide guitar and the Indian Mohan Veena he has a following from Australia to Norway and is a relentless touring artist. He has released 16 solo recordings since arriving in Canada in 2001.

Kevin Breit is the former guitarist for Norah Jones, Cassandra Wilson, Roseanne Cash Celion Dion and Bill Frisell. He has earned 2 Juno Awards and played on 13 Grammy winning recordings. Harry has called Kevin “Canada’s most creative, imaginative and versatile guitarist by a long shot”.

Manx and Breit have made three recordings together (2 of which were Juno nominated) and have performed shows such as the Bob Dylan tribute in NYC and the Los Angeles Blues festival as well as opening for acts like Greg Allman and Los Lobos. Their show at the Montreal Jazz festival attracted a crowd of 2000 to the Place Des Arts theatre. The live show is typically unrehearsed and totally spontaneous. These guys live and breathe their instruments, so when they play together it’s simply a conversation that is beautiful and exciting.
